As we know, Facebook is no longer about keeping up with the going ons of your friends. It is a way to promote your business, your ideas, and anything else you think others might be interested in. Being that I am into golf, I visit a lot of golf related pages to check out what my fellow hackers are doing within the industry. Even I have a page for this blog.

My new favorite page on Facebook is Golfballs.com. Each week they hold a contest which gives their fans an opportunity to win a dozen free golf balls. All you have to do is like their page and pick the winner of that weeks PGA Tournament and their winning score. Tie-breakers are determined by whomever is closest to the winners final tally. The contest begins after the second round is complete so you only have to choose from those who have made the cut.

Picking the winner of a tournament on any given week is basically a crap shoot, especially this year, with all the first time winners on Tour during the 2012 season. I got lucky and was able to win their contest as a result of picking Scott Stallings, winner of the Greenbriar Classic.

I'll be honest, it was kind of a eeny, meeny, miney, moe thing. I didn't know too much about the native New Englander, who is in his rookie year, but I was impressed with his play up to that point in the tournament. Plus, only one other person picked him as the winner, so I figured I had a chance if I could pick a good finishing number and hope for the best.

I was excited when Stallings came through. Mainly because I like to win, but also because it was a chance to try out the Srixon Z-Star, used by some of the top players like Vijay Singh, Graeme McDowell, and recent winner, Keegan Bradley. Their, "I switched to Srixon" campaign has been all over the Golf Channel and I wanted to see what all the hype was about.

Their are only a few tournaments left this year, but I encourage you to visit the fan page of Golfballs.com. Besides this contest, they also have a "guess the golf ball" contest, which I am confident I will never win, but I will keep on trying.

I have already used my new golf balls during a round at the Arizona Biltmore Golf Club and the results were interesting. Stay tuned for my next post to see how I did. In the mean time head on over and like Golfballs.com to give yourself a chance to win. Have a great round and always hit your target.

I switched to Srixon last December. I played Callaways last year but on a par 3 hole there was a donation table. Give $5 to charity and they would give you a sleeve. I took a sleeve of the Srixons and I found that I was hitting it a little longer and closer to the middle. I've stayed with them this year and don't see a reason to change.

So far I really like my Srixons. I hit the ball straight off the tee and was actually able to shape the ball on approach shots which I never do. I may have found my new permanent ball.
