I was perusing my twitter home page and I came across this tweet by the Golf Girl, Patricia Hannigan.

Absolutely @SET_Scramble ~ Your timing is perfect... On so many levels. :o)
It peaked my curiosity because I had heard of SET Scramble before but could not remember where. So I clicked on the link and what I came across is a new and "revolutionary scramble" event. SET is an acronym for “Same Exact Time”. This format allows golfers on a team to swing at the Same Exact Time.

The SET Scramble format was designed to eliminate the major flaws found in a standard 4-player scramble. The creators of SET Scramble figured out that there are 10 different ways to cheat during a scramble match(scoring, inaccuracies in the closest to the pin and long drive measurements, etc.). Using the SET Scramble format reduces the areas in which a team can cheat.

This format also helps keep up the pace of play. With multiple players hitting at the same time, the length of time spent on the golf course is reduced. This comes in handy when a tournament can have upwards of thirty teams of mid to high handicappers crowding up the course.

This style of play also allows for more teams in any one given tournament because of a faster pace of play. I can see how it could become a big social event with the ability to host more players. Great networking opportunity for both sponsors and individuals.

Maybe I will get a team together and go out to Las Vegas for the SET Scramble National Championships. I would love to play in a tournament like this. I already have the pants for a Loudhmouth Golf sponsored event. Maybe I can get John Daly to be on my team. Have a good round and always hit your target.

Additional Info
Amateur teams from all over the nation will ascend upon Las Vegas on September 18, 19, 25, and 26, 2010 to participate in "Golf's ULTIMATE Team Championship!" The 1st Annual SET Scramble National Championships will be held at The Chase at Coyote Springs located just 45 minutes from the Las Vegas strip. Amateur teams will have the opportunity to advance to the Championship Finals on October 18, 2010 where they will play with their "host" PGA Club Professional and a PGA TOUR Professional.
